Now that we are into the new year of 2022, and as you look around your little abode, it is always good to think of how you can de-clutter and simplify your home. It will give you a sense of newness and freshness. Here are steps to help you:

1. If you’ve not worn a piece of clothing for the past 6-10 months, the chances of you wearing it is extremely slim. You can give it a away to someone you know will use it more often, or donate it to recycle clothing stores. Search for recycle stores online, and you’ll notice that even your old bras do not need to go to waste! Make 2022 a year free of old, unworn clothing!

2. You can hire a carpenter to build a fit-to-area clothes cabinet that maximizes the use of space. Spending that few hundred dollars will go a long way as it would mean having more space to fit your things which then means you’re actually gaining more square-feet!

3. Get a carpenter to build a cabinet on wheels where you can push it from one side of the home to another. Alternatively, you can get help to drill in wheels to an existing cabinet. It can store your books, umbrellas and just about any knick-knack. With a cabinet on wheels, you’re not stuck to having it just in one corner of a room, because if you decide to rearrange a room, then moving the cabinet would be a piece of cake!

4. Reading materials like old magazines, novels and newspapers can be sold as pre-loved items, given away, or sent for recycling. If you’re not one to re-read novels, then sell or give them away. Think of moving to digital copies or second-hand copies of some reading material, too, as this will mean less paper being used while still engaging in the written word.

Just makes sure that you start with one corner of a room, and then make it a whole-year project. Doing a little bit a day will be gratifying when you see your home space opening up to more living area.
