You may feel that your small space feels cramped or clustered, but there are plenty of reasons why small is better: small spaces are easier to decorate, easier to keep clean, and easier to organize. Here are 3 easy, cost efficient, ways to wake a small room look bigger.
Clear Out the Clutter
There’s nothing that makes a small space feel more cramped than visibly having too many things in the room. Work out ways to get your boxes, book collections and any other clutter you may have organised. You can do this by organising it behind doors, table skirts, or on even shelves. This is a good time to not only declutter and get rid of things that you don’t need but to also mindfully and consciously be aware of how you are using the space. Using organizers, like a shelf or a cabinet you can get from multiple places for a reasonable price, is a highly suggested step. With things neatly arranged and out of sight, the space that is in view will feel orderly and more open.
Add better lighting
You’ll be surprised by what lighting can do to give a different perspective of a particular space. And it’s inexpensive too! A table lamp or a stand lamp can be easily obtainable in many stores for a reasonable price. Choose a design to your liking, and just to watch out for Mother Earth, get an LED light bulb (it’ll really save you money in the long run). Adding light to some ‘dead’ or dark corners will bring the space to life, giving the impression that you actually have that space available for use. Choose white or warm/yellow light to your preference.
Let colour do the magic
Have a feature wall or add colour to your fixtures and fittings. But make sure it’s coordinated well; otherwise the colours may clash and look too jarring. Having a feature wall can bring focus to a room, or colour coordinated items can make the place look more planned and organised.
